The Fortune Teller, a mezzotint after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723 - 1792) which was painted in 1777 and exhibited at the Royal Academy. The scene shows a dandy offering the gypsy palm-reaader the hand of his sweetheart, who seems amused and embarassed at the situation. A penciled notation indicates that it is an artist's proof, and is signed by "CRH Ludwig."
